About me and my practice
Within counselling there are many modalities. You may have heard of some of them such as Person Centred/Humanistic or CBT. Some counsellors practice in one modality or style of counselling.
Within counselling there are many modalities. You may have heard of some of them such as Person Centred/Humanistic or CBT. Some counsellors practice in one modality or style of counselling. However, that can have its limitations. I am trained in Pluralistic therapy. If you have not heard of this before, Pluralistic counsellors like myself are trained in a variety of modalities. I am trained in Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The benefit of being a Pluralistic counsellor is that I have more tools in my toolbox to help you work through whatever you need at the beginning of your journey and I can respond to your changing needs as therapy progresses. One size does not fit all and I can provide you with an approach that is as unique as you are.
Having experienced anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, work related stress, family difficulties, loss, loneliness, shame, abuse and grief myself, I know and understand how overwhelming these things can feel. I know how they can affect your life. I also know and understand how daunting it can feel seeking support through counselling. You may have many questions right now; you may not be sure if counselling is for you or if you did have counselling, what you would say or how does it work. I still remember the anxiety I felt when I first reached out and asked for support.
Whatever your reason is for seeking as a friendly and approachable person, I aim to provide you with a non-judgemental, empathetic and supportive space to fully explore your situation and to help you understand your thoughts and feelings so that together we can work through any difficulties you are experiencing.
